Mission Bend MUD 2 is pleased to announce the successful completion of the interior rehabilitation project for the ground storage tank (GST) at Water Plant No. 1. This project focused on restoring the internal surfaces of the tank to ensure its continued reliability and the protection of our community's water supply.

Focus on Preservation: Interior Repainting

The primary scope of this project involved the cleaning and professional repainting of the tank's interior. While no structural maintenance was required at this time, this preventive rehabilitation is a critical step in maintaining our vital infrastructure.

Repainting the tank’s interior will help with:

  • Protection Against Corrosion: The new interior coating provides a robust barrier that prevents the steel tank from rusting and deteriorating due to constant contact with water.

  • Ensuring Water Purity: Maintaining a smooth, clean interior surface helps prevent the buildup of sediment and ensures the water remains fresh and compliant with all state safety standards.

  • Maximizing Facility Life: Proactive repainting is an investment that extends the operational life of the tank by decades, delaying the need for costly replacements.

Your Tax Dollars at Work

Projects like the rehabilitation of Water Plant No. 1 are a clear example of your tax dollars at work. The revenue collected by the District is carefully managed to fund these essential infrastructure improvements.
